今まで聞けなかった前置詞の素朴な疑問：包含の前置詞の攻略法

【包含の前置詞の概念】
包含の前置詞にはbetween, amongがあります。どちらも含まれるという意味を持ちますがこの二つには大きな違いがあります。betweenは原則、「2つのものの間」、amongは「3つ以上のものの間」という概念があります。between は具体的に区別できるものであれば3つ以上でも使われることがありますがamongはあいまいな集団のなかに含まれているという意味となります。

《例》包含の前置詞betweenの使い方
I was sitting between Jiro and Keiko.
（私は二郎とケイコの間に座りました。）
I can meet between Sunday and Wednesday.
（私は日曜日から水曜日の間、会うことができます。）
Japan lies between Korea, north Korea,China and Russia.
（日本は韓国、北朝鮮、中国、ロシアに囲まれています。）
この場合、3つ以上ですが具体的なものが母集団なのでbetweenとなります。

《例》包含の前置詞amongの使い方
She’s popular among her co‐workers.
（彼女は職場の同僚に人気があります。）
There is nothing much to choose between among them.
（その中から選ぶものはありません。）
We divided that money among everyone.
（そのお金をみんなで分けました。）
