【垂直方向の前置詞の概念】
垂直方向の前置詞はabove, over, below, underでほぼすべての場面で対応できます。 aboveとoverは上の方向を表す前置詞です。aboveのイメージはある基準よりも垂直的な方向で高さが上であること、overのイメージは「～の真上」です。その反面、belowとunderは下の方向を表す前置詞です。belowのイメージはある基準よりも垂直的な方向で高さが下であること、underのイメージは「～の真下」です。したがってaboveとbelow、overとunderがそれぞれ対となります。
